Capital IQ is a major financial platform used to find data on public and private companies, investment firms, capital transactions, and people. It includes financials for over 88,000 public companies and 825,000 private companies. The platform provides sophisticated retrieval and personalization tools to create numerous reports and has an Excel Plug-in modeling tool.

S&P Global Market Intelligence is a platform that allows you to locate detailed news, data, and analysis on highly regulated industries including financial institutions, energy, consumer goods, healthcare, industrials and the media. Global Market Intelligence contains the data and news from the SNL Energy and SNL Kagan databases.

Registration Process

You must register using the same Harvard email address and password for both databases in order to have access to both databases. 

Capital IQ: Go to this Baker Library site and follow the directions for new users.

S&P Market Intelligence Platform: Go to the Capital IQ site listed above and follow the instructions for new users. Use the "Market Intelligence Platform" link on the upper right of the Capital IQ page to access S&P Global Market Intelligence.  A separate account is not required.  

To add industries to your account after registering, click on the Profile icon in the upper right and select User Profile & Display Information.

Alerts:

You will automatically be signed up for a number of S&P alerts based on the industry you selected for your Profile. To cancel the alerts, go to Classic Alerts and check "Do not send" in your Alert Settings.
