At HKS

All HKS students, faculty, staff, and fellows have free access to Adobe Creative Cloud through HKSIT. Applications in the Creative Cloud suite include After Effects (motion graphics), Animate (animations), Audition (audio production), Dreamweaver (web development), InDesign (publishing), Photoshop (graphic design), and Premiere Pro (video editing).

The HKS Library's Computing Lab has 10 desktop computers (5 PCs, 5 Macs) for use by HKS affiliates (though only students can print from them). These computers come equipped with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and other software programs for media production. You can find learning and support resources for using these programs in Knet.

One learning resource to highlight is LinkedIn Learning, accessible to all Harvard students and employees. The site offers thousands of on-demand, online courses and tutorials on media-related topics like Adobe Creative Cloud, graphic design, photography, video, audio, web design, and more.

If you are an HKS Alum, we have curated a list of free software alternatives to Adobe Creative Cloud programs.

At Harvard

The Lamont Multimedia Lab is your one-stop shop for media creation, including editing and production for audio and video. There, you can borrow equipment, access computers with editing software and a large-format printer, consult with staff experts, and find guided learning opportunities. You can join the Virtual Media Lab for access to online tutorials and guides on topics like podcasting, video editing, web publishing, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

The Cabot Media Studio offers two studio spaces equipped with professional sound, camera, and lighting gear (though no microphones). Harvard affiliates can reserve either studio by following the instructions on their website. Cabot also offers a bookable Augmented and Virtual Reality Studio, office hours, consultations, and workshops.

In Allston, the iLab Media Studio at Harvard Innovation Labs offers professional audiovisual equipment and a bookable recording studio.
