Zotero doesn't offer Dataset as an item type, but you can use Document as a workaround. In some cases, you will be able to use the Save to Zotero icon to bring in information on a dataset from a website. You will likely still have to edit this information. See Zotero's current documentation on this.

You can also manually add the dataset to your Zotero following these steps:

  1. Use the Green + icon to add an item. Choose Document as its type.
  2. Add the pieces of information you will need to cite the data in the Info tab just like you would for any item you add to Zotero.

   Then >>

Michigan State University has a great guide explaining the pieces of information you need to cite data along with many examples.
